It is related to the hormones in general, and hormone imbalances in general can definitely cause hair loss. It can also cause hair loss because quite frankly it causes a buildup of blood sugar in general in the body. With too high of glucose levels in general, you can lose certain nutrients and oxygen cannot properly travel to the follicles of the hair. This results in hair loss. there are actually multiple reasons why diabetes could cause hair loss, some of them more common than others.
